This is my soapstone. I made a penguin. My class has been making soapstone for about 2 months. In the beginning my stone was a rock and then I began to carve it into a penguin. It took a lot of work and a lot of time. The first step that I did was to get rid of any negative space that means we take off the negative space with a saw. Then we had to file. After we finshed cutting and filing after finding our shape we did steelwool and with the steelwool it took out all the scrathes. Then we had 4 diffrent sand papers and the sand papers were used to make it smooth and to some what shinny. Finaly we put the stone in the oven to make it hot when the stone was hot we took it out and begain to paint bees wax on it. The bees wax made it dull. After the stone cooled down we got to buff the stone buffing the stone make it shinny. I am very proud of my stone. I think that it is pretty amazing. I hope you like it!
